Chess Club
The Gloria J. Parks Community Center and the Archangel 8 Chess Academy are happy to announce the renewed weekly Chess Club at the Community Center. The Chess Club will be directed by Michael A. Mc Duffie, a Certified Chess Coach and Tournament Director of the United States Chess Federation. The Chess Club welcomes all Youth, Teens and Adults who want to improve their skills, have casual chess play, or challenging tournament competitors. Chess provides profound benefits for all ages, improves math skills, reading, critical thinking skills, increased memory, reasoning skills, and focus. Participating in the club is a free activity.
Parents are encouraged to join their kids to learn and play.
The Chess Club will be held on Friday evenings from 7pm until 8:30pm, beginning January 15, 2010. To register please email to arcangel8chess@yahoo.com with full name, age, grade, school, telephone number and level of play (ie: Beginner, Intermediate, Tournament player).
