Youth in the after school program are learning and playing chess under the instruction of Mr. Michael McDuffie, a chess master and certified instructor. Chess is like aerobics for the brain, and our students are getting a healthy workout each Wednesday afternoon. Even our youngest students are acquiring skills in strategic thinking and concentration. As their skills improve they will have opportunities to compete at tournaments held at Gloria Parks and in the community.
